‘FLICK does … Fame: An immersive Film Screening’ comes to 53two, Manchester on 17 August

On Thursday 17th August, Manchester arts hub 53two will become The New York School of Performing Arts for FLICK does … Fame: An immersive Film Screening, one unforgettable, fully immersive, night of cinema, street food, cocktails, performances and dancing.

FLICK does Fame is the closest you can get to an audition for the school without buying a plane ticket; as soon as those that dare to dream big walk through the doors (wearing the required vintage gym chic outfit of course) they will be guided to enrolment to register and await their audition slot.

When the time comes they will be taken through to the studio where they will get their chance to strut their stuff in front of a panel of teachers. For the folk that have decided that performing arts just isn’t for them, the bar will be fully stocked and ready for them to kick back and enjoy the show.

Applicants will then take their seats for a fully immersive screening of the original 1979 film and anxiously await their fate. There will be a bar with very special ‘Triple Threat’ cocktails to ease the nerves and authentic street food by Eat New York to settle those post-audition stomachs.

After the screening, those that made the cut will be announced to the room and will enter the limelight in a final performance packed with spontaneity and energy as part of a party that will include exciting performance surprises, retro prizes for the best dressed and food, booze, music and dancing aplenty ‘til the bell rings at midnight.

Darren Jeffries (Hollyoaks, T4 Freshly Squeezed, The Gadget Show), founder of FLICK, commented:

“Fame is an iconic film and one that everyone loves. At FLICK we build the fun around the film and we want to welcome people in, give a nod to nostalgia, transport the audience to their New York School of Performing Arts audition and, most of all, create a fun authentic environment for them to watch their favourite film and have a party. London is full of immersive screenings like this, but us Northerners are catching up and I want Manchester film fans to enjoy the same experience.”
